“Chucks and Pearls”
GREETINGS FROM THE TEMPLE ….
“Chucks and Pearls”
Chucks and Pearls are the best of two worlds. The world of chucks is a representation of a woman’s loving, caring, service and includes the ups and downs of daily living. The world of pearls is a representation of a woman’s thank you and praise to God for His Goodness and Mercy as she navigates through a life of loving, sharing, caring, for others.
See me in my chucks (tennis shoes) as I stand on the shoulders of my ancestors. Generation after generation of women from the early years of slavery (which officially ended with the signing of the 13th Amendment in 1865 freeing the slaves) – through the Women’s Suffrage (which officially ended with the signing of the 19th Amendment in 1920 giving women the right to vote) – through the segregation years – which led to the march on Washington for jobs and freedom (August 28, 1963) – to the present day of rioting due to bigotry – police officers killing of the innocent – and the marches to bring awareness to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Wearing chucks represent the work (serving) I do on a daily basis under God’s leading and direction. Wearing pearls represent my appreciation for God’s gift of serving and in recognition of His Mercy and Goodness. I serve by the grace of God.
“If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.” – 1 Peter 4:11b (NIV).
Pray that as you use your God given gift to help others they will see Jesus in you and glorify Him for the service you have provided. To God be the glory!
Join us on 5th Sunday (Women’s Sunday), January 31, 2021, at 10:00am. In recognition of our first woman vice-president, Kamala Harris, to whom we will now refer to as: Madam Vice-President, we have endorsed a phrase coined for her: “Chucks and Pearls” as our theme. Sis. Kitty Griffin is our speaker. Suit up in your chucks and pearls and join us as we celebrate the Year of the Woman.
